Current stats: 16+ lbs., approx 27" long. Skills: rolling over (and over and over and over ...); sitting up, unsupported; holding her bottle, with support; saying "dada."
The big news during Mia's seventh month is that Daddy took Family Leave to stay home with her for three months while Mommy returned to work. Her first day back was Valentine's Day, when she got the best surprise of all: a visit from Daddy and Baby Mia! Of course, having to put her attention elsewhere has been a difficult transition (mostly for Mommy), but what a blessing! Mia is Daddy's Girl, and loves spending time with him. He is such a wonderful father--her face lights up when she sees him (and vice versa). Luckily, Mommy doesn't have to work a full day every day. It's a pretty good balance, but Mommy still cries every morning she has to drive to work because she misses her sweet baby. (Daddy, keep buying those Lotto tickets!!)
BLING ALERT! On Grandma Shirley's birthday, Mia got her ears pierced with her birthstone (peridot/light green). What a trooper! She cried for just a minute, then Mommy and Grandma distracted her and she was her laughing, happy self again. She's done great with the earrings--lets Mommy & Daddy clean them, and doesn't try to touch or pull them out.
This past month, Mia went to Disneyland for the first time, with Mommy, Daddy, Tutu Jackie, Auntie Pat and Auntie Loretta. Bubby Syl met us at the front gate, then introduced us to some of the staff and characters. Fearless Mia tried to grab Brother Bear's paw and chew on it! She had a great time that day, and we can't wait to take her back when she can actually enjoy the rides.
Another milestone this past month ... Mia's first viral infection! All hell broke loose (literally) during a visit to the Getty Museum. But in between bouts of illness, Mia still managed to smile--this girl already looks for the silver lining.
We're still waiting for the top front teeth to come through. They are on the VERGE. More news as it unfolds ... See new pics in Mia's "7th Month" PHOTO ALBUM.
